Programme Manager (Innovation)

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 dependent on experience

Hours: Full Time 37.5 Hours

Duration: Permanent

Location: Bristol (Temple Meads)

About the role

As a Programme Manager focusing on innovation projects, you will act as a coordinator between multiple projects to be sure they are benefiting each other and aligning with the overall strategic objectives of the business.

Your main accountabilities are listed below:

  • Devising, organising, and implementing multiple interdependent projects that contribute to our main strategic goals

  • Dealing with complexity and managing project teams across the business as well as providing some direct project management input yourself

  • Supervising project delivery and manage competing priorities across different projects

  • Problem solving, maintaining programme schedules and reporting on the status of the programme’s component projects

  • Ensuring that project reporting within the programme is robust and consistent and provides Programme level summary information to Steering Groups and Senior Leaders in the organisation in order to gain sponsorship and authorisation for key decisions

  • Programme risk management is an integral part of the role, providing visibility, mitigation and monitoring of key risks and escalating to senior managers as appropriate

As an experienced manager in your own right you will also coach and support project managers and project leads across the business as Bristol Energy further develops its Project and Programme Management capability in this exciting phase of its growth and development.

About you

You must have:

  • At least 3 years experience in a management role, with direct experience as a project manager

  • The ability to remain calm when managing multiple work priorities and deadlines and create effective project plans

  • Experience in the application of appropriate project governance in-line with established organisational frameworks

  • Experience in promoting best practice within the projects and ensuring that previous lessons learnt are adopted, and new lessons identified for future benefit

  • The ability to network, building relationships to enable successful engagement with a broad range of stakeholders (external and internal) often with competing interests

  • High level of numeracy skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Excellent IT skills with a good knowledge of Office 365 suite (including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, and Project)

You must be:

  • Analytical and a problem solver. You will be working with our business analysts to evaluate options for project and programme delivery

  • A great communicator, approachable and with good interpersonal skills

  • Pragmatic, reasonable and open minded to different stakeholder views

  • Able to exercise good commercial judgement

You will ideally have:

  • Business Management degree and/or Project or Programme Management Qualification

  • Experience in a technical or regulated industry

  • Experience in the management of subcontracts/third party suppliers, providing technical project input
