PMO Business Analyst

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Duration: Permanent

About the role

We are looking for a Business Analyst to sit within a small, but growing Project Management Office (PMO) Team. It is the team's responsibility to ensure that we have the appropriate processes, systems, support and governance in place to enable Bristol Energy to successfully deliver on its programme of strategy and innovation projects as well as supporting BAU change control in our key business applications.

You will work to clearly define colleague and project sponsor requirements, and to propose process and system solutions to change requests and project requirements, identifying the best way to resolve them. You will provide the logic and understanding to enable us to understand solutions and options as part of our project design and delivery phases. A key element of this work is to clearly identify expected business benefits and feed into business cases for project investment and prioritisation.

This a business critical role in enabling us to achieve our strategic objectives through efficient and effective project prioritisation and delivery.

Your main accountabilities will include to:

  • Identify practices to enable the business to work in a more efficient and productive way

  • Facilitate the transition into new models of working

  • Assess the impact of changes with an appropriate level of research and analysis and to capture, analyse and document requirements

  • Support the communication and delivery of any requirements with all relevant parties

  • Task analysis and evaluation of surveys and workshop results

  • Document identified deliverables, including specifications, processes, required changes, and communicating them to the relevant third parties/colleagues

  • Use appropriate IT resources to create IT solutions, enabling the organisation to better meet its goals – best of breed approach across our business applications architecture

  • Work with Development Teams and Testers to ensure a clear understanding of the specification and acceptance criteria to enable the development and execution of a robust test plan

  • Work with Project Managers/Leads and business sponsors to clearly define measurable business benefits that can be tracked to ensure benefits realisation

  • Advise senior management around options and business case benefits of proposed solutions

  • Actively contribute to multiple concurrent projects and initiatives

  • Work as part of the wider PMO team to deliver a high level of customer service to project stakeholders by providing support, challenge and skills development

  • Be proactive in the ongoing development and improvement of the PMO service, system, processes, tools and templates provided to all programmes and projects

  • Provide training and coaching to end users in the business around the development of robust requirements and business cases

  • Support the delivery of a PM framework, which is appropriately scaled for the organisation and individual projects

  • Any other reasonable activity to support Project and Programme Managers in the business and the Strategic Programme Director, in line with business priorities and objectives

About you

You must have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience working as a Business Analyst

  • Proven experience of critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to be proactive, analytical, methodical and objective

  • Excellent written, face to face and telephone communication skills with the ability to explain technical solutions in a way that it can be understood by colleagues who may not be familiar with technical language

  • The ability to build good relationships with colleagues at all levels and to engage relevant end users and project sponsors

  • The ability to convert requested requirements into a clear specification that considers multiple process outcomes

  • Excellent IT skills with a good knowledge of Office 365 suite (including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, and Project)

  • The ability to remain calm when managing multiple work priorities and deadlines

  • High level of numeracy skills with a strong attention to detail

You will ideally have:

  • Experience of working within the energy industry in a similar or subject matter expert role

  • Experience in data reporting, test planning and test execution

  • Experience of working with business teams to develop requirements

  • Good knowledge of energy systems such as Junifer and AFMS

  • PMO/Project team experience

  • A recognised Business Analyst qualification
