Where does our energy come from?

At Bristol Energy we offer the greenest electricity we can, at the best price we can. And we’ll reinvest our profits back into Bristol communities – so you can go green, and give back.

Moving your premises

If you're moving out of your current business premise or locating to a new one, let us know by filling out our quick forms. We can then either close your current account or start up a new one for you.

On the day of your move, remember to take an electricity and gas meter reading. This will then allow us to issue your final and/ or initial invoice accurately.

Third party intermediaries

We want to work with Third Party Intermediaries (TPIs) that share our ambition and ethos to offer fair and transparent prices to businesses.

With our dedicated Third Party Team based in Bristol, we want to work with TPIs that can support us locally and/ or nationally.

This is an extremely exciting time for Bristol Energy and the TPI Market, and we’d welcome enquiries from those TPIs who comply with one of the recognised TPI Codes of Practice.

Climate change levy exemption

two people in an office discussing the climate change levy

Climate Change Levy (CCL) is a government imposed tax that was created to encourage businesses to reduce their gas emissions and make greater efficiencies in their use of energy. But Climate Change Levy isn’t charged on all gas and electricity supplies, so your business or charity could save money if you’re exempt.

Some supplies are either excluded or exempt from the levy, this could be you if:

  • Your gas and electricity supplies are charged at 5% VAT
  • Your supplies are used in some forms of transport

VAT exemption

You could save money on your business energy bills, if you’re eligible for business energy VAT exemption.

Why does my business have to pay VAT?

Even if you're VAT registered you will still be required to pay VAT on certain goods and services, such as electricity and gas. However, if you’re VAT registered and you pay more VAT than you charge your customers, then you will be able reclaim the difference from HMRC.

Some businesses are able to apply for a reduced rate of 5% VAT.

You are eligible to apply for VAT exemption if:

We work with a range of generators of all technology types and sizes. We’re committed to supporting the UK’s community of renewable generators, and we tailor our products and services to better meet the individual needs of your project.

Community energy projects

We’re different from other energy companies. With no corporate shareholders to keep happy, we can reinvest our profits back into the local community, to fight fuel poverty and support locally generated renewables.
