IT Support Apprentice

Reporting to: Head of IT & Change

Salary: £243.75 per week

Duration: 12 Months

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Qualification: Level 2 NVQ in IT Professionals (with day release for college attendance)

Location: Bristol (City Centre)

The apprenticeship will combine excellent on the job training within our IT team along with classroom training which will form part of your working week. You will be supported by our experienced IT team who will guide you through your apprenticeship to ensure that you are fully equipped to undertake the role. You will study towards a Level 2 NVQ in IT Professionals. You will play an important part in supporting the IT Team to ensure that we have the systems, infrastructure and equipment to serve our customers and support our colleagues.

What we expect of you…

  • Communicate efficiently with staff through all methods of communication
  • Provide clear and prompt advice and support to all internal customers
  • Create user accounts for new and current employees on various IT systems
  • Set up various IT equipment for new and current employees
  • Assist the Head of IT & Change as and when required with related projects
  • Support and monitor Bristol Energy’s existing IT infrastructure
  • Client facing for all technical issues and responsible for documenting and implementing solutions, and or procedural changes
  • Escalate issues to appropriate colleagues, liaising with them and the client to identify issues and provide interim solutions or workarounds
  • Maintain and configure workstations to the corporate standard
  • Backfill the team where practical and support the daily activities of the team where appropriate
  • Preparation and provision of Android mobile devices
  • Support Operating Systems (Android and Windows), MS SharePoint, MS Office365, as well as other client software packages
  • Provide support for Printers, Servers, Networking, Wi-Fi Access Points
  • Learn and Use Remote Management and Maintenance Software.
  • Work closely with the IT Support Analyst to manage new starter, mover and leaver processes
  • Help efficiently manage software licenses / assets and new equipment orders

Skills Required

  • Good IT skills – knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good communication skills (telephone, written & face-to-face)
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
  • The ability to learn new skills and various IT systems and apply them in the workplace
  • The ability to work on own initiative to meet deadlines with speed, accuracy and consideration
  • An excellent attention to detail

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE grade A-C (or equivalent) in Mathematics
  • GCSE grade A-C (or equivalent) in English literature and English Language
