Innovation Project Manager

Salary: Up to £40,000 dependent on experience

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Duration: 2 Year FTC

Location: Bristol (Temple Meads)

About the role

We are looking for a project lead for an exciting 2 year consortium project to support the development of Local Energy Markets and new low carbon technology propositions. This role will bring together leading UK research, new technologies capabilities, consumer insight in domestic settings and the development of new market-ready propositions.

You will manage delivery across multiple workstreams within a large and complex project, as well as act as a coordinator across the innovation programme to ensure overall strategic alignment, management of shared resources, and the optimisation of benefits.

As an Innovation Project Manager, you will be a key member of our Energy Services Team. While managing your own project, there are likely to be times when you’ll get involved in work across the broader innovation programme.

Bristol Energy works with multiple partners and building strong relationships with industry partners, regulators, and third-party suppliers will also be an important part of the role.

You will also assist the Innovation Programme Manager in various programme governance activities: including planning, reporting, and risk management.

Your main accountabilities will include to:

  • Manage the delivery of a large and complex project with multiple workstreams across various partners; on time, within scope and within budget

  • Manage the project scope, budget and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

  • Manage a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress

  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

  • Carry out specific project tasks as required including, but not limited to; business analysis, product development, workshop facilitation, and creation of customer literature

  • Coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring resource availability and allocation

  • Manage all project communications including to; the programme manager, senior Bristol Energy leadership, and other internal stakeholders; including attending conferences and workshops representing the project and Bristol Energy

  • Ensure project reporting is robust and consistent and provides programme level summary information to Steering Groups and Senior Leaders in order to gain sponsorship and authorisation for key decisions

About you

You must have:

  • At least 2 years’ experience as an effective project manager including managing deadlines, competing priorities, budgets, spend, forecasts, resources and reporting

  • Experience of consumer-focused product development and taking new products to market including; consumer engagement and research and working with technical teams to manage technical requirements and integrations

  • The ability to build effective relationships through networking and effective communication to enable successful engagement with a broad range of stakeholders (external and internal) often with competing interests

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the principles and best practice delivery methods of project management and governance

  • A proactive approach and be keen to learn new skills and technologies and grasp complex concepts quickly

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems and work with a team of experts to evaluate options

You will ideally have:

  • Business Management degree and/or Project or Programme Management Qualification

  • Experience in the Energy Industry, technologies, regulation and market landscape

  • Experience of the management of subcontracts/third party suppliers
