The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is a Bristol institution, attracting around 500,000 people and more than 130 balloons.
In fact, it’s the largest annual gathering of hot air balloons in Europe.
It also raises an incredible amount of money. And for the second year running, this will support the Great Western Air Ambulance charity.
The Critical Care Team is available seven days a week, 365 days a year. It attends more than 100 incidents every month, transporting people with life-threatening injuries and flying sick children to Bristol’s specialist hospital. The Bristol air ambulance is one of the busiest in the UK.
But although it provides a vital, lifesaving service and is part of the regional 999 network, the GWAAC receives no day to day Government or Lottery cash, and needs to raise its own funds. It costs around £2.6m to keep the team flying each year.
Last year the charity raised over £16,000 during the course of the Fiesta weekend. This year we want to help them raise £25,000 - the cost of keeping the helicopter going for around four days.
Bristol Energy will donate £30 every time someone switches using the code GWAAC.
