Gas Operations and Shipper Analyst - Level 2

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 Hrs

About the role

Our operational teams undertake a pivotal role in making sure that our customers’ needs are met e.g. that we bill accurately to ensure payments are collected and vulnerable customers are supported. We achieve this by engaging with other organisations in the sector or other third parties that help us support our customers efficiently. The operational teams ensure the smooth transfer of new customers when they first join us and look after the arrangements with our metering partners.

Although not an exhaustive list, your duties will include: 

  • Evaluating and implementing improvements to Operational Gas processes

  • Managing the maintenance of quality industry data to support industry billing, forecasting and settlement

  • Developing ‘RAG’ status management of processes

  • Managing and monitoring industry alignment and reconciliation on completed Operations team work

  • Managing the User Acceptance Testing on Billing CRM and Shipper systems

  • Assisting with coordinating the priorities of the GOS Advisor and develop visibility of work impact in reporting

  • Recognising exception trends (e.g. missing data, system issues) and raising them to the team manager where required

  • Planning and co-ordinating implementation of solutions internally and with industry third parties

  • Being responsible for the Managed Service and their interaction with the billing system and shipping system

  • Analysing and developing reporting on metering third party performance and contributing to recommendations and evaluations

  • Attending cross-team meetings and cascading issues while supporting with solutions where applicable

  • Supporting identification of revenue leakage opportunities and continuous improvement resolutions (technical gaps, organisational culture, knowledge gaps)

  • Raising and monitoring raising of systems defects via Xoserve Issue Management

  • Collating industry reporting on read performance

About you

You will have:

  • Experience of working within the Gas Supply Industry or a dataflow function
  • Experience of using Excel to an advanced level, SQL and Power BI, or similar reporting tools
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and numeric skills
  • Experience of working in a complex and regulated environment
  • Demonstrated ability to be organised and deliver on team and individual KPI’s
  • Excellent written and face to face communication skills and the ability to explain technical information in a way that can be understood by colleagues and the senior team
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to manage time effectively
  • A resilient, self-motivated and results orientated approach to your work

You will ideally have:

  • Understanding of the impacts of industry processes upon customer experience and Bristol Energy’s ability to bill
  • Excellent and straightforward communication skills – both verbal and written and the ability to build strong rapport with customers and internal/external stakeholders
  • A willingness to work with others to get the job done and own the solution
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to follow processes and scripts
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to manage time effectively
  • An innovative approach to resolving issues and a desire to improve your own and your team’s performance
