Bristol Energy are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our busy Finance team. The Finance team has a vital role in both the life of our customers and the success of our business; they assist in formulating all the financial targets and budgets for each part of our business and maintain control on all transactions and accountancy issues, as well as ensuring financial compliance.

This role is ideal for a candidate looking to take responsibility for end to end processes, as well as having the autonomy to make processes your own through improvements.

About the role – Accountabilities

As the Financial Accountant, you will be assisting the Financial Controller in the managing of the day to day financial operations of the company.

Although not an exhaustive list, this role will include:

  • Preparation and ownership of the daily cashflow forecasts

  • Preparing monthly VAT and CCL returns.

  • Ownership of the finance duties for our Holding company, including preparation of quarterly management accounts, payroll, invoices and year end accounts.

  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including designing and implementing a new Balance Sheet review process.

  • Month End activities including preparation and posting of accruals, prepayments and provisions.

  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts and reports for Directors and Shareholders.

  • Assisting the Financial Controller in preparing the annual accounts and tax returns and supporting all areas of the year end audit.

  • Assisting the Financial Controller in ensuring the finance systems are operating coherently and implementing process improvements and simplifications.

About you – Knowledge, skills and experience

You must have:

The post holder will have a can-do attitude and be willing to get involved in all duties of the finance team.

In addition, you will have:

  • An understanding of the importance of cash flow management and practical experience of preparing weekly/daily cashflows.

  • Practical experience of completing monthly management accounts and annual accounts.

  • Accountancy qualification or currently studying towards.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills, methodical, practical and with a good attention to detail.

  • Personal initiative, an ability to problem solve and prioritise effectively.

  • Willingness to work autonomously or as part of a team as required.

  • Experience of Microsoft Excel.
