About the role
You’ll play a key part in making Bristol Energy’s digital services and information simpler, clearer and easier to understand. To do this you’ll need to be an excellent writer – with the ability to write user-focussed content and someone who also understands great digital experiences are about more than just writing. You will need a passion for people, websites and technology.
We want our users to be able to complete tasks and find information as easily as possible. We also want to create digital products and services that enable our customers to get things done digitally wherever possible – rather than over the phone or through another route.
You’ll be working on ensuring content is user-focussed and effective across various digital touchpoints and channels – customer-focussed emails and website content, customer portal and new be-connected mobile app. You may also be asked to provide occasional support with preparing and optimising content for wider digital/social marketing campaigns.
About the team
While you’ll be working closely with, and be mentored by, the Digital Transformation Manager you’ll need to collaborate with key individuals from across the business to support our transformation plans. You’ll also work closely with our Customer Experience Manager in addition to colleagues in Marketing, Customer Care and Retail teams.
The business is moving towards an iterative Agile approach to projects and project management: this means we try to research, hypothesise, build, release and then analyse data/get user feedback within 2-3 week blocks of time. We lean towards doing, testing and iterating over more traditional project management approaches and encourage sharing work and peer review. You will need to be flexible in reacting to changing deadlines and goals and want to learn and improve your knowledge of content design and digital, in general.
Your key accountabilities will be:
Researching, writing, editing and publishing digital content
Identifying improvements to content and user journeys
Checking content is accurate and compliant by managing relationships with subject matter experts from i.e. compliance and legal
Monitoring the performance of content
Ensuring content from across business adheres to content standards, brand/digital guidelines and tone-of-voice
Providing feedback and constructive criticism to colleagues to improve all work
You must have:
Experience of writing for the web, with proven ability to create content that is accessible and usable
Proven experience in using data and user insights to define and improve content
Appreciation for different content formats and which ones work in what digital contexts/channels
Experience working with content publishing/management systems (we use Drupal CMS)
You will ideally have:
Experience writing basic HTML
Experience of managing relationships with stakeholders
Experience of the Google 360 suite – specifically Google Analytics and Search Console
