Compliance Manager - FTC

Salary: up to c.£25,000

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 Hrs

Duration: 6 Month FTC, Maternity Cover

About the role

The Regulation Team oversees and supports Bristol Energy colleagues, processes and systems for compliance with industry regulations and associated business regulations. The team manages and influences industry change introduced by the Government, Ofgem or the various industry codes to mitigate risks and maximise opportunities. The Team leads on data protection compliance and investigation of potential data breaches.

As Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring regulatory reports are delivered on time and ensure that they are consistent and accurate.

This position will be exciting, fast-paced and varied – so you will need to be able to turn your hand to a number of activities. Although not an exhaustive list, your key accountabilities will include to:

  • Review and support the development of company processes to ensure they are compliant with regulatory rules and supply licence conditions

  • Identify and report on any areas of non-compliance

  • Guide and support operational teams in resolving any relevant issues or queries

  • Assist the Head of Regulation (interim DPO) and Information Security Manager on matters relating to data protection, including by investigating potential and actual data breaches and making recommendations for improvement

  • Ensure data protection registers and logs are maintained, accurate and up to date

  • Support the Head of Regulation in producing monthly and quarterly reports for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and the Risk and Audit Committee. To produce any other ad-hoc briefing notes as appropriate

  • Ensure all regulatory reporting is accurate and sent on time

  • Represent the Regulation & Compliance function on internal project committees

  • Liaise with key stakeholders including Ofgem, BEIS, and Citizens Advice on aspects relating to energy policy and compliance

  • Deputise for the Head of Regulation where appropriate including SLT and Risk and Audit Committee meetings

About you

You will have:

  • Knowledge of the energy industry regulatory environment or a keen interest in this area

  • Experience of developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures

  • The ability to work with and influence operational teams to achieve compliance within business parameters

  • The ability to build a strong rapport with external regulator parties

  • The ability to present a robust case on behalf of Bristol Energy

  • Excellent organisational skills and able to manage time effectively

  • Strong IT skills including experience using Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of an organisation

  • A high level of analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Leadership qualities with the ability to influence decisions by providing professional, informed and commercial arguments

You will ideally have:

  • Experience of Project Management

  • Experience of dealing with data protection issues within an operational environment
