We’ve teamed up with Bristol Sport to help thousands of children discover the power of sport.
Bristol Sport’s Forever Sport programme will work in 30 primary schools across the city throughout the 2017/18 school year, giving high-quality coaching both in and out of school.
And their mission has never been more important. Only 30% of primary school children complete two hours of sports activity a week. And youth obesity is on the rise.*
Owned by Bristol City Council, Bristol Energy is one of a new breed of gas and electricity companies; set up to offer Bristol residents a fairer deal, and reinvest its profits back into local Bristol communities.
By supporting the Forever Sports programme, Bristol Energy will help 7000 children access at least two hours of sport per week, both in and out of school.
Peter Haigh, Managing Director of Bristol Energy, said: “We might sell gas and electricity, but we’re most passionate about using our energy to make a positive difference in our home city. Giving children the chance to find a sport they love could be life-changing.
“We’re also pleased to be able give parents the chance to benefit too. If your child attends a Forever Sport school, we will give you a half term of free after-school sports activity when you switch”
Forever Sport programme manager, Tom Monks, said: “Forever Sport is right at the centre of Bristol Sport Foundation’s work on increasing participation.
“By providing high quality PE lessons and after-school clubs, we aim to equip large numbers of primary school children with the skills and confidence to access and enjoy a wide range of sports.
“The partnership with Bristol Energy will allow us to inspire more children to be healthy, participate in sport and become lifelong supporters of Bristol City, Bristol Rugby and the Bristol Flyers."
We’ve set up a number of ways to benefit from the new partnership.
Parents of children at a Forever Sport school can access a term of free after-school sports activity** if they switch using a specific code.
Anyone keen to support the Forever Sport programme can opt for Bristol Energy to donate up to £30 on their behalf when they switch.
Fans of Bristol Flyers or Bristol Rugby can switch for the chance to win a VIP day out with their favourite Bristol team.
