Bristol Energy are getting greener as we grow

6 September 2019

  • Bristol Energy was created to help tackle social and environmental challenges such as fuel poverty and climate change.

We believe that environmental justice and social justice are intrinsically linked because the issues of an unfair energy system always hit people living in deprivation harder.

Switching your energy supplier to one which provides renewable energy is one of the easiest ways to tackle climate change.

So, from 6th September 2019, we are removing all of our standard energy tariffs, and only providing green ones, as we escalate our journey towards becoming a lower carbon, wholly green energy supplier.

We’ve already been on that journey for some time, with 75% of our standard electricity tariff coming from renewable sources. But it takes time to get to a completely green fuel mix and doesn’t happen overnight – despite what some energy suppliers may say.

Our renewable fuel mix

With a growing mix of direct power purchase agreements; local renewable generators across wind, solar, hydro and bio, green energy certificates and lower carbon solutions we will commit to only offer green tariffs which benefit the environment and our communities.

From early September, new customers will no longer be able to choose standard tariffs. In addition, our current customers will only be able to renew onto green electricity and lower carbon gas tariffs.

If our customers refer a friend to switch to us, we will donate £20 to their account, £20 to their friend’s account and £20 to the Fuel Good Fund, which helps to tackle fuel poverty in our home city of Bristol.

Join us on our journey to create a sustainable energy company with social value at its heart.
