Salary: £24,000 - £28,000

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

About the role

As a Billing Process Expert for Bristol Energy, you’ll be part of developing our excellent Billing Team. A key aspect of this role will involve developing and supporting our processes and policies, acting as the subject matter expert to others within and outside of the team, as well as providing support and training to the billing function and wider teams. This role ultimately works to identify, recommend and drive efficiency improvements and deliver these whilst analysing the impact to other functions.

Thorough investigation and effective communication skills are paramount in this role whilst at Bristol Energy, we deal with many different customers in a variety of situations, all with different needs. This calls for resilience, determination and a positive can-do attitude in our Billing Team and keeping our customers at the heart of everything we do.

This position will be exciting, fast-paced and varied – so you will need to be able to turn your hand to a number of activities.

Your main accountabilities will include to:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for the Billing Team and other business functions providing a good understanding of all relevant existing billing processes and regulatory requirements

  • Develop and manage a collaborative network of internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure best practice is adopted across operational processes

  • Manage complex billing exceptions, for example; missing data and system raised issues

  • Identify and resolve any billing exception trends whilst escalating these where required

  • Co-ordinate and streamlining of new and existing processes across the function, ensuring to assist with the testing and development of these

  • Complete Route Cause Analysis on Billing exceptions, identifying improvements needed.

  • Lead implementation of any operational billing changes, ensuring understanding and effective implementation across the business is achieved

  • Work closely with the Billing Specialist to ensure training and process documentation is embedded

  • Ensure that all billing procedures are compliant and followed

  • Act as point of contact and liaison from the Billing Team to the IT and Digital Function

  • Ability to support the timely resolution of any complaints and escalations that are raised to the Billing Team

  • Any other activities which support the day-to-day operation of Bristol Energy

About you

You must have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ energy industry knowledge with a clear understanding of energy systems and processes

  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a billing function

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information quickly and accurately to deliver suitable solutions

  • Ability to deliver tangible and sustainable benefits through applying improvement methodologies

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing time effectively to prioritise multiple priorities

  • Ability to understand, explain and resolve complex situations where the resolution spans several scenarios and teams

  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and confidence in handling difficult conversations

  • Advanced level Excel skills

You will ideally have:

  • Demonstrated track record of improvement in billing performance and the ability to manage impacting processes and functions to control billing output

  • Knowledge of and experience using Junifer or another similar CRM system

  • Proven track record of analysing data and KPIs to optimise performance

  • Ability to quickly understand multiple areas of the business
