We are working with the Bristol based charity during January to help reduce social isolation among older people
Loneliness is something experienced year-round but this can be particularly acute during the winter, and January is all about making a positive change for the New Year.
We will be supporting LinkAge throughout this month with a variety of fund-raising activities by our staff as well as volunteering opportunities.
Ben Ross, our Residential Partnerships and Third Party Sales Manager, said:
“We’re delighted that a Bristol Energy team is going to be running the Bristol 10k to raise money for the campaign. We knew this wouldn’t appeal to everyone so we’re also baking and holding a cake sale to collect funds that way.
“And importantly, our staff will be volunteering this month. We have 200 staff in Bristol and everyone has two volunteering days a year, on company time, to help out for a worthwhile local cause.”
How you can do your bit
- This January you could set yourself a challenge and support LinkAge at the same time. Take part in a fundraising challenge, host a fundraising event in your community, or with your colleagues. There are lots of fun ideas to get you started. From taking part in a local marathon, giving up chocolate, alcohol or social media for the New Year, to hosting a safari lunch with your colleagues.
- Make a donation to support the work they do for older people
- Make a New Year’s resolution to volunteer for a local charity who organise opportunities for older people across Bristol, or simply be a friendly face to older people in your local community. You could also volunteer with your colleagues and take part in local initiatives to clear community gardens or help at a local event.
