Bristol Energy helps raise over £5000 for local homeless charities

18 January 2019

  • A contactless donation point previously located at Bristol Energy's harbourside Hub was collecting for the Safer off the Streets (SOS) campaign set up to help Bristol's homeless.

The contactless donation point is one of several located around Bristol raising funds for vital night shelters.

During the time the donation point was hosted by Bristol Energy, it collected a total of £5,301 for local charities St Mungo’sThe Julian TrustCaring in Bristol and Crisis Centre Ministries

The donation point proved highly popular with vistors to The Hub and passers by. Individual donations were set at £2.

Kathryn Lacy, Regional Fundraising Manager for The South West, told us "This contribution would have funded an average of 311 bed spaces and covered the cost of nearly five whole days of shelter provision."

Still working for Bristol's homeless from a busy harbourside location

The donation point has now moved to a new home, nearby at the tourist information centre, where it will continue providing a quick and easy way for people to donate and help provide places for Bristol's homeless to seek safety and shelter off the streets.

Other ways to help

  • Identifying and reaching people experiencing homelessness is an important part of helping them off the streets. If you are concerned someone is sleeping rough and in need of help, you can contact StreetLink.
  • You can donate to Caring in Bristol when you switch to Bristol Energy.
