At Bristol Energy, we’re all about Positive Energy and doing things with a social conscience.
So in the countdown to Christmas, we’re sharing a few of our favourite ways to do good during the festive season.
1. Shake up the staff Secret Santa
Instead of holding a Secret Santa this year, why not donate presents to a children’s charity instead.
This year we’re donating gifts to Bristol's hospital charity Above and Beyond for children spending Christmas in hospital.
2. Support local Independents
A recent report by Ethical Consumer magazine predicts that this Christmas will be the most ethical on record, with more people than ever shopping locally.
Join the trend and support your local independents when out shopping for gifts. If you live in Bristol, why not shop in Bristol Pounds too!
3. Help fight Homelessness
Did you know it’s estimated that 1 in 200 people in the UK is homeless? It’s a problem that’s steadily getting worse, but it can often feel hard to know how best to help.
Donating money, food and clothing to homeless charities can be a great option. Or go one step further and volunteer at a shelter like Caring in Bristol. Especially at Christmas, your help will be greatly valued.
If you’re in Bristol, you can also donate quickly and easily to the city’s homeless shelters via our contactless donation station on the Harbourside.
Switch to us quoting the code CARING and we’ll donate £30 (£15 for gas and £15 for electricity) to Caring in Bristol.
4. Get involved in a litter pick
Back in Autumn, the Bristol Energy Marketing team took to the busy Bath-Bristol railway path for a team litter pick. We had a surprising amount of fun and felt brilliant for helping out.
Why not gather some friends or colleagues and get in touch with your local waste services to help you organise a litter pick.
5. Get fit while supporting the community with Good Gym
Is ‘exercise more’ on your resolutions list for the New Year?
Did you know you can do good for your health and the community at the same time? Check out your local Good Gym and get involved!
6. Cut down on plastic
Determined to cut down on your plastic use in 2018? Make sure you ask Santa for a refillable water bottle this year.
And Bristolians, keep an eye out for the Refill Bristol stations around the city to top up your water bottle for free. There's one in our Hub.
7. Go Green
Switching to renewable energy is one of the quickest and easiest ways you can help protect the environment.
Set aside a couple of minutes in between those post-Christmas naps on the sofa to switch.
Switch to Bristol Energy and help us spread even more positive energy.
Already switched? Tell your friends they can support us too! And don't forget to pass on the code CARING so we can donate up to £30 to Caring in Bristol on their behalf.
